Tommy Fury has resigned from his forthcoming bout against Jake Paul, according to Jake Paul, who verified the news on Monday. Tyron Woodley has stepped in to fill the void.
Fury and Paul were scheduled to fight on Dec. 18 in Tampa, Florida, but sources indicated Fury, the half-brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, was hurt, prompting Paul to announce on social media that Woodley would take his place.

"The Fury family has withdrawn from the battle due to a'medical problem,'" Paul said in his post. "At first, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It doesn't even seem to be genuine. He botched the biggest bag of his life, so instead of being paid millions of dollars to fight me, he'll be watching from home and paying me $60.

"When my team informed me on Friday that Tommy would be withdrawing, I assured them I was ready to fight anybody on December 18. Troy, Trey, Trevor, and Travis are the members of the team. It doesn't matter to me who it is.
"So, Tommy Fumbles, and Tyron is there to pick it up, stepping in, and contractually, if he knocks me out, he gets an additional $500,000. I outboxed him for the first time. I'm going to punish him this time, and there will be no mistake about it "Added he.
Woodley gets a chance to redeem himself after losing a split decision to YouTuber Paul in a cruiserweight bout in August.
Fury's promoter, Frank Warren, dismissed fears that the bout might be cancelled when the 22-year-old fell unwell with a cold in November. Warren has been silent about the decision.
The December pay-per-view bout, which was first announced in late October, was scheduled to be fought at 192 pounds over eight three-minute rounds.
In his brief boxing career, Paul, 24, has a 4-0 record, with two of his matches taking place this year. In April, he defeated NBA veteran Nate Robinson and former Bellator and ONE champion Ben Askren.
